Maiya Brown (she/her) is an aspiring independent animator with an interest in background and character design located in San Francisco, CA, currently in her third year as an animation major at California College of the Arts.

 

Creator of the animated short film, "Heirloom" and currently in production of a short titled, "Night Drive", her work centers around human connection, the inner world, and perception. She is interested in unconventional story structures and how narratives can involve surreal elements to enhance their symbolic strength. Although her primary focus is in 2D animation, she also has an interest in mixed media and experimental animation processes that enhance a feeling of otherworldliness in her work. Her approach to art making is driven by the idea that if one is enjoying making what they're making, the audience will enjoy it too.

 

She is always excited to make new connections with people who share these values and interests.
